Garden of Hope
Garden of Hope
The Garden of Hope is a project of Asociación Juntos Podemos with the mission to provide Guatemalan children and youth with safe green spaces where they can connect with nature, foster joy, and develop life skills.

At Asociación Juntos Podemos we believe that access to nature and safe, healthy food is a human right. Guatemala ranks sixth in chronic malnutrition in the whole world*. Addressing malnutrition through food sovereignty and nutrition programming is a key goal of the Garden of Hope.

We provide hands-on learning experiences that teach how to:
-
grow organic food,
-
care for the soil,
-
respect the environment,
-
harvest,
-
cook creatively and nutritiously,
-
fertilize the soil naturally by composting,
-
value native plant species.

The Garden of Hope currently provides these programs to families in El Hato, a Mayan community located in the mountains above the tourist town of Antigua:

-
Vegan cooking classes
-
Community garden
-
Community days
