Claire Henkel

Claire Henkel, along with the community of Jocotenango, founded the Garden of Hope in 2015. She worked to grow the Garden of Hope programming, impact, and space throughout her five years of leadership in the organization. After leaving Guatemala, Claire worked at the Denver Children's Advocacy Center in Denver, Colorado where she helped coordinate emotional support programming for undocumented families. She also helped initiate the organization's horticultural therapy programming. In May 2023, Claire graduated with her master's in Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning from North Carolina State University. She now works as a Research Associate at the Coastal Dynamics Design Lab at NC State's Department of Landscape Architecture.

Together We Can Guatemala

Asociación Juntos Podemos (AJP) works closely with our sister organization Together We Can Guatemala (TWCG), a United States 501(c)(3) charity. The two organizations have the same mission: To provide educational support and environmentally sustainable economic opportunities to disadvantaged Guatemalan youth. To that end, TWCG helps AJP through fundraising, NGO expertise, and technical, managerial and logistical support.
